Institute President (2008/09) Natalia Seng; Vice-President Maurice Ngai; Chairman of Education Committee Edith Shih; General Manager Louisa Lau; and BRO Chief Representative Kenneth Jiang; visited Shanghai officials on 2 December 2009. The objectives of the visit were to:

  • Nurture networking relationships with regulators in Shanghai
  • Capture the strategic development of Shanghai as the national international financial center
  • Update the regulators on the Institute’s development from three perspectives – Hong Kong, the mainland and internationally
  • Share with the regulators the latest developments in corporate governance matters in the mainland
  • Nurture communications with HKICS Affiliates and H-share board secretaries, and
  • Enhance the professional profile of Chartered Secretaries and the Institute.

The visit to Shanghai was constructive in maintaining an effective communication dialogue and getting updates from the Shanghai regulators. It also assists the Institute to monitor our pace in the mainland and to upkeep information to members.

The Institute would like to express its sincere thanks to the representatives from the following organisations for meeting with, and sharing their valuable views with, our representatives during the visit.
