The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries Foundation Limited

The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries Foundation Limited (the Foundation) was established by The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) on 5 January 2012 as a company limited by guarantee under the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance. The Foundation is a registered charity under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance (Charity reference 91/11348) which enables donors to claim tax relief in Hong Kong for donations made to the Foundation.

The main objectives of the Foundation are: -
|
· to support education and research in company secretarial, legal, accounting, and business studies generally, and particularly in the area of corporate governance, and to publish the research results for the benefit of the general public
|
· to organise or sponsor non-profit making training courses and educational programmes that contribute to public knowledge of corporate governance
|
· to provide awards and/or scholarships and subsidies to people in need to pursue studies in company secretarial and corporate governance and related subjects, and
|
· to publish articles and publications that promote and educate the general public about good secretaryship and corporate governance.
|
|
To ensure the objectives are fully met, the Foundation has and will continue to conduct various programmes and activities including: -
|
· establish the 'Chartered Secretaries Scholarship' and 'Chartered Secretaries Subject Prize' with the eleven universities and higher education institutions for outstanding performance in company secretarial, legal, accounting and business studies generally and in particular in the area of corporate governance
|
· sponsor the Corporate Governance Paper Competition and Best Presentation Awards for local university students organised by HKICS
|
· establish a signature fund for secondary schools and tertiary institutions to conduct/sponsor projects on corporate governance and secretaryship related matters
|
· organise free seminars to the general public on company secretarial, legal, accounting, and business studies generally and in particular in the area of corporate governance
|
· sponsor publications on practice guidance notes on company secretarial, legal, accounting, and business studies generally and in particular in the area of corporate governance. The publications are free of charge to the general public.
|
|
The inaugural Fundraising Report of the Foundation which covers the period from the incorporation of the Foundation in 2012 to 31 July 2016 highlights the generous donors’ contribution and support and the activities held during this period.

Upcoming fundraising campaign
|
|
The Foundation is offering HKICS’s neckties and scarves for charity sale from now till 18 January 2018 and at the HKICS Annual Dinner 2018 – A Sparkling Night. All sale proceeds of selling these fashionable neckties and scarves will go to the Foundation for promoting good secretaryship and corporate governance to the general public.
