The Institute held the Advanced seminars for directors and supervisors of the listed companies & The 49th Affiliated Persons Enhanced Continuing Professional Development (ECPD) Seminars under the theme of ‘Board Governance and the Practices of Directors Performing Duties’ in Xishuangbanna between 15 and 17 May 2019. The seminars attracted over 170 participants from H-share, A+H share, red-chip, A-share and to-be-listed companies. HKICS vice-president Dr. Gao Wei, Council Member Dr. Eva Chan, past president Maurice Ngai and Chie Representative of HKICS Beijing Representative Office Kenneth Jiang attended the event.
This training was HKICS’ first training for Directors in the Mainland and opened a new journey specially tailored training for Directors, it also served as the beginning of the Cooperate Governance core curriculum courses: Boardroom Dynamics, especially, the series courses of Boardroom Dynamics and professional skills of Director & its practice, in which three elements including directors’ performance and requirements, core competencies and skills of directors, and practical exercises for scenario simulations were conducted . It would be taught in accordance with the model of EMAB programme with simulation exercises. Seven groups simulation exercises of board meetings were arranged, participants simulated the scenario of board meetings and were offered the opportunity to participate as supervisor, chairman, independent director, financial advisor, board secretary and shareholder, etc.
Dr. Gao Wei the vice-president of HKICS and Tom Chau the Partner and Chief Representative of Beijing Representative Office, HERBERT SMITH FREEHILLS LLP contributed a lot to this seminar on the core curriculum courses. Other senior professionals and board secretaries shared their knowledge and experience on a wide range of topics.
