Institute President April Chan, Vice- President and Chairman, Membership Committee Maurice Ngai, General Manager Louisa Lau and Beijing Representative Office Chief Representative, Kenneth Jiang visited the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) on 9 November 2010.
The purposes of the visits were to receive updates on the implementation progress of “The Guidance for the Basic Internal Control Norms for Enterprises” [<<企业内部控制配套指引>>] and to look into the opportunities for future co-operation in the training of the internal control matters with the MoF; and to nurture the future co-operation with the SASAC regarding the training of the board secretaries of the state-owned enterprises.
The first Beijing regional H-share Board Secretaries Panel meeting (panel meeting) was held on the same evening. 32 participants including board secretaries from H-share companies, regulators from MoF, China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), SASAC and the representative from Beijing Representative Office, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) also attended panel meeting. During the panel meeting, H-share board secretaries discussed and shared their views on the Institute’s submission to FSTB on 'Proposed Statutory Codification of Certain Requirements to Disclose Price Sensitive Information by Listed Corporations' and to share their practical experience in handling price sensitive information matters. A dinner gathering was held after the panel meeting for networking.
The visits and the panel meeting were constructive in maintaining an effective dialogue and getting update from the regulators in the Mainland. The first Beijing regional H-share Board Secretaries Panel meeting provided a valuable platform to the H-share board secretaries to meet and share views among themselves, with the Institute, and the regulators.
The Institute would like to express its sincere thanks to the representatives from the MoF, SASAC, CSRC and HKEx for meeting, and sharing their valuable views with our representatives during the visits and the panel meeting. Also, a special thanks to China National Coal Group Corporation Limited to sponsor and support the panel meeting and dinner gathering.
