EY’s research points out that a majority of institutional investors across the global market are incorporating ESG factors in their decision making. Where investors rely on issuers’ ESG Reports in obtaining nonfinancial risk information, majority of the ESG Reports published by Hong Kong issuers to date are not up to the expectations of these investors. As a result, these Hong Kong issuers could be less competitive in attracting investors with responsible investment policies. On the other hand, the Stock Exchange expects issuers to have performed better in stakeholder engagement, board accountability to ESG, ESG strategy and target setting, as they understand this is what investors are expecting.
In this seminar, speaker will:
- Unveil how global investors see ESG, and contrast the gap between Hong Kong ESG Reports and investors’ expectations
- Discuss various ESG ratings commonly referenced by institutional investors
- Offer practical guide and case studies on identifying ESG risks, director involvement in ESG management, and environmental metrics handling
